NEPTUNE, NEW JERSEY – Derrick Griggs, Chief Operating Officer of the Affordable Housing Alliance (AHA) in Monmouth County, was appointed to the Facilities and Construction subcommittee of Governor Phil Murphy’s Restart and Recovery Advisory Council.
This advisory council, created last Friday, May 8th, brings together leaders from diverse industry groups and community organizations throughout New Jersey to advise state leadership on economic matters impacted by COVID-19.
“As we begin the difficult task of restarting New Jersey’s economy and recovering from the damaging effects of COVID-19, this advisory council brings together leaders from all walks of New Jersey life,” said Governor Murphy.
Mr. Griggs’ leadership is a reflection of the hard work he’s accomplished after working in Corporate America for over a decade and now COO of Monmouth County’s largest non-profit community development organization.
“It is an honor and a great responsibility to be a part of this committee. I look forward to working together with other industry and community leaders to help organize the necessary plans to restart our state’s economy,” commented Mr. Griggs.
Furthermore, Derrick Griggs is a proud alumnus from Rutgers University, holding a BS degree in Finance, as well as an MBA in Management & International Business. In 2016, Mr. Griggs was chosen as one of 50 leaders for the prestigious 18-month Achieving Excellence Program at Harvard John F Kennedy School of Government.
Along with the Facilities and Construction committee, there are eight other subcommittees created by the Council: Government, Health Care, Main Street, Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Professional Services, Social Services and Faith, Tourism and Entertainment, and Transportation and Infrastructure.
The combination of these perspectives will assist officials in government as they face difficult choices involving the appropriate levels of economic and other activity that can be allowed in light of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak
In addition to focusing on issues surrounding the short-term restarting of New Jersey’s economy, this council will also begin the task of positioning the economy and creating a framework for the long-term recovery, according to a statement released by the Governor’s office.
