Three-unit development in Millstone Township provides permanent homes for families experiencing homelessness.
Millstone Township, NJ – The Affordable Housing Alliance (AHA), a veteran in developing and managing affordable housing communities for over 30 years in Monmouth County, is proud to announce that 6 Novad Court in Millstone Township has officially welcomed its first residents. Families experiencing homelessness have moved into these newly constructed homes, delivering on AHA’s mission to develop permanent affordable housing solutions for the community’s most vulnerable populations.
“First thing I really want to do is cook a nice meal, honestly. I’m not the best cook, but I love a pot roast, so I might make that my first Sunday meal,” shared one new Novad Court resident, reflecting the simple joy of having a kitchen to call their own.
The three units at Novad Court will provide stable housing for very low-income families and individuals. Residents will enjoy modern amenities with convenient access to local stores and comprehensive supportive services to achieve long-term housing stability and self-sufficiency.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with our new residents at Novad Court. This project reflects our belief that everyone deserves safe, affordable housing and the opportunity to build a better future,” said Randi Moore, CEO Affordable Housing Alliance. “By combining quality homes with comprehensive support services, we’re helping create conditions where people can focus on their health, their goals, and their families.”
For residents who have experienced the uncertainty of homelessness, the transition to permanent housing represents a transformative opportunity. “I’m just thankful to God. Having my own place, not sleeping on the streets. It’s a fresh new start,” expressed another resident.
The project was developed through a successful partnership between the Affordable Housing Alliance and the Township of Millstone, representing an effective model of municipal and non-profit developer collaboration in affordable housing development. From the groundbreaking ceremony, attended by Mayor Al Ferro, Senator Owen Henry, and representatives from US Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim, to the opening, Novad Court demonstrates what’s possible when communities come together to tackle housing challenges.
“I am so grateful. This means that we can be together, and we can have a house and a bed to lay in and something to call our own,” said a third resident, highlighting the importance of family stability that permanent housing provides.
The development was funded through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ (NJDCA) National Housing Trust Fund and Monmouth County HOME ARP funds, leveraging federal, state, and local resources to create affordable housing solutions that promote housing stability.
“We extend our appreciation to all our partners, stakeholders, and community members who made this project possible,” said Chris Pugliese, Chief Property Development Officer for the Affordable Housing Alliance. “This opening represents not just new housing, but new opportunities and hope for families in our community.”
