Housing Stability – CAP Utility Assistance Program

Eligibility Requirements
AHA-CAP may assist eligible Monmouth County households with restoration of disconnected utility services or past-due utility bills for their current dwelling.
If a household is seeking utility restoration assistance (i.e. reconnection), they must meet all program requirements by demonstrating income and county residency-based eligibility requirements.
If a household is seeking utility arrears assistance, they must meet income and county residency-based eligibility requirements. In addition, the household must first exhaust all other of utility assistance programs such as USF, LIHEAP, and provide evidence of this assistance to qualify.
Eligible households may receive up to $1,000 in assistance, based on need* for utility restoration or utility arrears payments.

Transportation Assistance:
The AHA provides the following two transportation options to eligible Monmouth County residents to help with essential travel needs:
EZ Ride Ridesharing
Through our partnership with EZ Ride, eligible clients can schedule rides for:
- Work or job training
- School or educational programs
- Medical appointments, medication pick-up, or other essential medical needs
- Grocery shopping, food banks, or essential food-related destinations
Rides must be scheduled in advance and are subject to availability.

Now Offering: NJ TRANSIT Bus & Light Rail Passes
Eligible clients can receive NJ TRANSIT bus and light rail passes to assist with:
- Work or job training
- School or educational programs
- Medical appointments, medication pick-up, or other essential medical needs
- Grocery shopping, food banks, or essential food-related destinations
Why NJ TRANSIT might work for you:
- Passes can be used on both buses and light rail
- One-way tickets are valid for 2 years from the date of purchase

Youth Services:
- Summer camp placement is limited and only available for ages 6-12. Summer camp placement requires a referral from the camp. For Monmouth/Ocean County Police Athletic League, contact 732-455-3325 or info@monocpal.org. For YMCA Summer Camp, contact 732-836-9177 ext. 815 or summerfun@ymcanj.org.
