Housing Stability – Utility Assistance Program

The Utility Assistance department assists eligible renters and homeowners with utility assistance for heating, electricity and cooling.

Eligibility Requirements

AHA-CAP may assist eligible Monmouth County households with restoration of disconnected utility services or past-due utility bills for their current dwelling.

If a household is seeking utility restoration assistance (i.e. reconnection), they must meet all program requirements by demonstrating income and county residency-based eligibility requirements.

If a household is seeking utility arrears assistance, they must meet income and county residency-based eligibility requirements. In addition, the household must first exhaust all other of utility assistance programs such as USF, LIHEAP, PAGE and provide evidence of this assistance to qualify.

Eligible households may receive up to $1000 in assistance, based on need* for utility restoration or utility arrears payments.
