Affordable Housing Alliance

North Middletown-Port Monmouth Neighborhood Plan

The Affordable Housing Alliance (AHA) is convening a community-driven neighborhood planning process in the North Middletown-Port Monmouth area (see map). This process will bring together residents, business owners, public officials, local organizations, and other stakeholders to develop a comprehensive set of proposed strategies and activities to improve the community.

Once completed, this neighborhood plan will unlock special state funding to implement these proposed strategies through the New Jersey Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit (NRTC) Program. It will also give us a comprehensive analysis of all of the community’s opportunities and needs.

This planning process aims to be truly community-driven. Community members will have opportunities to provide meaningful input through an online survey, a series of community meetings held throughout 2024, and other engagement opportunities. Community members will then be able to review and comment on a full draft of the neighborhood plan in early 2025.

During the process, we’ll be discussing topics like how to improve:

  • Public safety
  • Neighborhood parks
  • Amenities at the beach
  • Pedestrian safety
  • Recreational and Youth Programs
  • Support for homeowners and aspirant homebuyers
  • The Business Corridors
  • Access to job opportunities
  • The condition and quality of housing
  • Flood mitigation
  • The beauty and cleanliness of the neighborhood
  • Community unity

Some of this work will build on ideas originally suggested by residents during North Middletown’s 2008-2010 participation in the NJ Neighborhood Preservation Program.
